Romans 16:17-24

Reflect

We live in a very harsh world. Abusive, horrible things happen to good people. It takes more than charming smiles and living morally to alter the trajectory that we are on. We near the end of Paul’s greatest attempt at having us think and live rightly. Romans radiates with the pathway for abundant life. In fact, that is exactly why he warns us to be wise about what is good and what is evil (v19).

I believe these next years are going to have us encounter hardships beyond our imagination. Our only hope is that our Sovereign Lord of the universe crushes Satan’s plans to divide and conquer us all. My heart’s cry is that all of us “saved by grace, Spirit-filled, followers of Jesus” plead with the Father for a worldwide restoration to His ways. It would not be the first time that He mercifully stirred the church into being about what really matters. Pray that any lukewarmness within us would be so unsatisfying that we find it repulsive. Pray that we, motivated by the work of Jesus on the cross, would dare to do whatever it takes to be agents of reconciliation.

If this journey through Romans has not caused you and me to live beyond ourselves and for the lost, what more would it take?
