Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 10

Revelation 12:1-12

Reflect

Today’s reading gives us a different, more cosmic telling of the Christmas story, one involving dragons war, and salvation. It gives us a glimpse into how, through Jesus, our salvation has come, and we don’t need to fear whatever “dragon” threatens us today. We know that once and for all, evil has been defeated.

Now, we’re living in the in-between time between when death was defeated and when we will one day live in the new heaven and new earth with Jesus, and the dragon is still wreaking havoc on earth. But our hope is that this is not the way it will always be.

Our passage finishes with, “He (Satan) is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.” This isn’t the way it will be for long. Our hope is written in verse 10, that “now have come the salvation and the power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ.”

Apply

Have hope, friends. Good wins. Evil is defeated. We will worship with Jesus forever.
