Reflect
There are two types of people in the world: people who read the instruction manuals, and people who don’t. I remember moving into the home that we’re currently living in, and the amount of IKEA furniture we had to build. After a while, I pretty much had the gist of how IKEA pieces everything together with different types of fasteners. As I approached our last dresser, I decided not to use the instruction manual and solo the project. The project took nearly twice as long since the pieces weren’t fitting well, and drawers weren’t aligning – I was defeated by IKEA that night.
The Ten Commandments were not given to Israel so that she would be miserable. These commandments were an instruction manual so that they would be able to live in the fullness of joy that God intended them to live. God knows how we think, what we feel, and what we need, how we respond to different situations, and how we can have a healthy relationship with Him as well as others. Since He made us, He knows exactly what we need to live in a way that would maximize our joy.

As you search through scripture, what command is God leading you to follow and pay more attention to? How might following this command lead you to greater joy?
