John 2:12-25

Reflect
Who would you say is the most perceptive person that you know? Some people just get the dynamics of others so well that they are well ahead of those who have multiple PhD’s. I find verses 23-25 absolutely fascinating. Flowing throughout the first few of chapters of John is the constant proclamation of how freedom is available to those who believe in Jesus. We have seen and will continue to see that there is a sovereign plan to save humanity – and it is Jesus. I love the way verses 23-25 show that Jesus was a no-nonsense type of Saviour. It’s not that His perception developed over thousands of years. He knew from the beginning the capacity of humanity. Yet, in the thousands of years prior to Him being born as a babe, He certainly witnessed the whimsicality of humanity. Pause and ponder, Jesus knows everything about you. Everything, absolutely everything about you and all of us. There is no limit to His knowledge. Jesus alone knows how far we are from being pure, but that doesn’t hinder Him from giving us what we so desperately need – Him as our Saviour by grace alone.

Apply
Unlike Jesus, we tend to love others only to the degree we think they have earned it. Are you willing to ask Jesus for the grace to love others as He does?
