Devotional Guide for Thursday, February 21

John 15:18-27

Reflect
Jesus says in verse 22, “if I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin.  Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin.” When we testify to the truth of who God is by our words and the way we live, we may be accused of being intolerant.  In the cultural climate of today, moral absolutes and the truth that Jesus is the only way to salvation are not popular opinions.  God’s way exposes the world’s sin.  And if people do not respond to God’s way and repent, this way will be opposed.  Jesus tells us in these verses that we can expect this.  We do not belong to the world but to God.  We are called to be different and to testify to the world the truth of who God is.

Apply
As we reflect on this today, what are our lives proclaiming about God?  Where may God be calling us to be bold in our faith?  How does knowing WHOSE we are give us courage to testify to God’s truth?
