Psalm 29

Reflect
This is a powerful psalm, rich with imagery that brings attention to the power and reign of God in all creation. David writes how we not only see God’s glory in all of creation, but that we can hear the power of God in all of creation. We often joke with little kids that when we hear the loud crash of thunder in the middle of a storm, God must be bowling in heaven. As we get older, we obviously dismiss that idea because we learn scientifically how the crash of thunder is actually created. But what if in that learning, we lose the awe and wonder of the power of God that can even be seen and heard in all the sights and sounds of creation? As we see and hear these reminders of the power of God, we should be compelled to worship and praise God who is Lord over all.

Apply
As you go through your day, keep the radio off and the headphones out, and take some time to listen to all the sounds of creation that echo the wonder, power and glory of God. As you hear, give Him an offering of praise.
