Devotional Guide for Saturday, June 15

Psalm 99

Reflect
This passage is filled with the praises of a God who is holy, just, and forgiving. Verse 5 says, “exalt the Lord our God! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy!” One of the definitions for exalt is to raise high. We see all throughout Scripture reasons to exalt God and raise Him high. He is worthy of our praise. I desire to exalt God in my life. But sometimes I fall short of that and raise other things higher, things that I try to gain hope or security from.  When I choose to exalt something in my life other than God, my worship also goes to that person or thing. We were not created to worship anyone but God. Our hearts will never be satisfied apart from God as He created us that way.

Apply
As we go through this day, let’s ask God to show us if there is anything else in our lives we are raising higher than Him. May we be a people that exalt the Lord.
