Isaiah 57

Reflect
As we continue on through the book of Isaiah, we now come to a chapter where we see Isaiah is addressing those who think they have it all “figured out”, believing they don’t need God to be in control of their lives.  They can create their own gods (idols).  In fact, part of the problem is they feel God is asking too much of them.  In verses 14-21 we see what God says He will do for those who trust fully in Him.  He will do for His people what they cannot do for themselves.  The battle in this passage could be boiled down to pride and self-reliance versus reliance on God and seeking a dependent relationship with Him.  We are not immune from being the people Isaiah is addressing in verses 1-13, but I hope we are willing to recognize when we start to become self-reliant, then turn to God and repent.  Let us be people who fully trust God and are dependent upon Him.

Pray for Stephen Alskne - House of Prayer Edmonton
I grew up in Edmonton and was saved when I was around 15 years old. In my younger days, I began to come to House of Prayer Edmonton and was strengthened and challenged in my personal prayer life. In the midst of a series of events, I felt strongly that the Lord was handing to me an invitation to be on staff at HoPE for the long term. At this point in time, I can think of nothing greater to give my life to, that I would be so privileged to stand with the HoPE team in the building of night and day prayer and worship in Edmonton.
