Preparation for Sunday, September 15

Philippians 1:3-8

Reflect
Today, Pastor Lyle will continue a series of sermons in the book of Philippians developing the theme, “20/20 Vision, Life as God Intends.”   We will explore Paul’s description of the “Gospel.”  The word literally means “good news”.  Unfortunately, we have tended to limit this good news to something God did in the past (sending Jesus to die for our sins) for something good in the future (going to heaven when we die).  While this is all true, verses 3-8 speak of the reality of the Gospel in the present, presenting good news that is able to impact every day of our lives.

Apply

  • From the passage above, what are some ways you see Paul experiencing the impact of the Gospel, the “Good News of Christianity”?
  • After listening to this morning’s message, how do you believe God is asking you to respond?
  • Ask God to work in the hearts of all who will be attending our services today.
