Psalm 104

Reflect
I once heard a worship song with a simple spontaneous bridge in it that often get’s stuck in my head: “Sometimes, you gotta sing your way into the truth.” I realize something like this may sound a bit pithy, but whenever we read the Psalms and see the line, “Bless the LORD, O my soul,” that is essentially what the Psalmist is saying. He is saying there are times we need to tell ourselves to bless the Lord. It’s easy, given the realities of what we face on an everyday basis to forget how good God is, so we need to remind ourselves. The Psalm that we are looking at today begins with that line, and then goes on to describe the many ways the Lord is good. Verse after verse proclaims the goodness and worthiness of God! Sometimes we need to be reminded of this, that even in the difficult times when we don’t have the faith to praise God or acknowledge He is good, “we gotta sing our way into the truth”. As we meditate on the goodness of God, faith can arise in us. Not faith that will always change our circumstances, but faith that can provide Heaven’s perspective on our circumstances.

What are some areas in your life right now where you need Heaven’s perspective? What do you need to be reminded is true about God, so you can have faith in who He is in the midst of your troubles?
