Preparation for Sunday, November 10

Philippians 2:12-13

Reflect
Today Pastor Lyle will continue his series in Philippians with a message on these two verses that challenge us to pursue growth in our walk with God, yet to do so in a way that recognizes how dependent we are on God for this growth to happen.  Verse 13 clearly states that God is the one working in us to accomplish lasting transformation.  At the same time, verse 12 is clear that we are not passive in the process.  Overarching this is the truth that we are not working “for” our salvation, but as a result of God’s saving work in our lives.

Apply

  • What does it mean to you to work out the implications of all God has done in bringing you salvation?  What does it mean to do this with a humble sense of dependence on God to bring any true and lasting change?
  • After listening to this morning’s message, how do you believe God is asking you to respond?
  • Ask God to work in the hearts of all who will be attending our services today.
