Devotional Guide for Saturday, November 25

Colossians 3:1-4

Reflect

It can be so easy to get so distracted by things that are happening in our lives (good or bad) in a way that takes our eyes off Jesus as the one who sits with God at the centre of the universe. Our eyes so easily are drawn toward worldly things, and we forget that there is something bigger happening. Today’s passage reminds me of the throne room vision found in Revelation 4-5. In both, we’re reminded that whatever is happening in our current reality right in front of us, the throne at the centre of the universe is occupied. God is still there in the centre, and Jesus is right there beside Him.

This isn’t to dismiss the challenges or whatever else we face here on earth, but rather the encouragement is to right-size them in light of eternity. Our life is secure in Jesus. Our eternity is secure in Jesus.

What would it look like for you today to “set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God”? And how would that impact the way you view the things you’re walking through today?
