Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 23

Psalm 95:1-7a, Matthew 2:1-12

Reflect

When the wise men came near to the end of their journey and found the place where the star had led them, they were filled with joy. The thing that they had been waiting and searching for was just around the corner, and the anticipation they had before meeting the Messiah was palpable. When they finally met Jesus, they were compelled to bow down and worship. We see the same kind of reaction in our Psalm reading today as well. We’re instructed to sing for joy, to bow down and kneel before the Lord, and to bring Him thanksgiving.

I hope that whatever you’re walking through this Christmas season, there will be some space for you to experience the joy of a coming Messiah. May you know Him as the Good Shepherd, your Good Shepherd. May this joy lead you to respond in worship to the King of kings and Lord of lords.
