Devotional Guide for Wednesday, December 27

Proverbs 3:1-6, 1 Corinthians 13

Reflect

The passages chosen for today, and indeed for this week, join the thousands of others found in God’s Word that call us to a life of love.

With the gentle glow of Christmas behind us, we need to be certain that “The Wonder of His Love” is not forgotten as we drown in a sea of materialism. We need to desire His gentle whisper about the way of love more than the screaming voices calling us to the new and improved latest gadget or fashion that will soon be obsolete.

The greatest gift we can receive this week is to live the teachings of Jesus and His beautiful Kingdom. This week, we will be tempted to ditch Jesus’ teachings as we crave just one more…whatever.

Jesus emphasizes to His followers that His way includes loving the poor and the oppressed, to not see that care for the marginalized in our way of life brings us to question whether we really are following Jesus.

To limit Jesus’ impact to that of dying for our sins misses out on His teachings to love. To only accept His teachings to love avoids His greatest example of love as He died on the cross for us.

How will you embrace the full robust life of following Jesus by knowing you are loved, in order to love those Jesus guides you to?
I’d love to hear about it.
