Nehemiah 9:5-17, John 3:16

Reflect

What would you do for love? How far would you go for someone you love? How are you at receiving gifts of love from others? Is there a limit to your love for others?

We have just come through another Christmas season. Earlier this week we celebrated the birth of Jesus and all that this gift of God’s Son means to us.

In our Nehemiah passage we are reminded of all God did for His people, how He continued to extend love to them even when they thought they knew better and ignored God’s gifts to them. This is what God continues to do for us. “But you are a forgiving God, gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love” (Neh. 9:17b). John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

We might have limits on how we extend love to others, but God is a forgiving and gracious God who demonstrates His love through the gift of His Son. I pray you will continue to receive this gift of love daily from God.
