Preparation for Sunday, March 24

Matthew 21:1-17

Today we will be continuing our series “Dwelling in Jesus” and the sub-series, which has us transforming through the careful questions that Jesus asks.

Palm Sunday is one of my favourite Sundays. I love the chaos of the kids coming in replicating the mayhem that the original Triumphal Entry must have been.

When the people of God connect and lift their voices in praise to the Messiah, they join together with all of creation that worships their Creator. When we worship, our hearts relate to the heart of God. When we worship, our body declares that God is worthy of all that, by His grace, we can express. Whether it’s singing, speaking, dancing, praying or any other act of worship, we proclaim that we follow God and that we are beloved children of the Most High.

Yes, there were concerns with Palm Sunday and the motivation of the people; however, Jesus lets it all play out. Luke’s Gospel tells us that Jesus would soon weep over Jerusalem. John’s version tells us that if the people would not worship, the stones themselves would cry out. Yet, here in Matthew’s account, we are given the opportunity to witness what it looks like when the crowd plunges into worship and experiences the height of satisfaction of casting away inhibitions for the glory of God.

My friends,
Come now is the time to worship.
Come now is the time to give your heart.
Come just as you are to worship.
Come just as you are before your God
Come.
