Preparation for Sunday, March 31

Matthew 16:13-20

He is risen! Happy Resurrection Sunday, McKernan! This morning we’ll be taking a look at Matthew 16:13-20 and answering the question that Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say I am?”. In the same way that Peter was called to answer this question, we are also called to answer this question in our own lives. Is Jesus a historical figure, a teacher, a lunatic or something supremely more?

Depending on how we answer this question, it shapes and affects not only our relationship with Him, but the power of His resurrection in our lives. After all, Jesus’ resurrection is the absolute cornerstone on which all of Scripture’s promises and claims are based.

Apply

  • In what ways does your confession of “Who Jesus is” serve as a life altering truth in your life?
  • Take a moment to reflect personally on Jesus’ identity, and how it shapes your life.
  • How can you cultivate a deeper and richer sense of Jesus’ identity, so that you can solidify your confession even in the face of adversity and doubt?
  • Reflect on opportunities that you might have in sharing your confession to those who don’t know Jesus.
