Proverbs 21:1-15

Reflect

I think it’s probably safe to say that generally we desire to do what is right. Sure, we all have our moments that we may not be proud of, but most of the time our hope is to do what is right. But how do we determine what is right or not? Verse 2 says, “All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the Lord weighs the heart.”

We’re pretty good at being able to rationalize and convince ourselves that the things we’re doing are right, but how often do we consult with God? If we were to ask Him about the things we’re involved in, the things we give a place of priority in our lives to, or the things that matter most to us, what would He say? Is there anything He might ask us to change, do differently, or scrap all together? Are we investing our time and energy where He’d want us to?

One of the problems is there are a million and one good causes out there to be investing in, and we very well might be investing in really good things. But is that what God has for you right now? What would it take for you to hold those things loosely, to hear what God might be calling you to now?
