Our culture is very removed from the time of the Bible where slavery was ingrained in their practice. Paul isn’t justifying slavery –he’s trying to turn our attention to something bigger. Whether you’re a slave or free, whether you work for a great boss or have a difficult working situation, whether you’re the lowest on the ladder or the chief CEO, our work assignments are not just for people or money. We’re in service to a much greater Master, the Lord Jesus. How we act, serve, and our attitude for what we do needs to come under His Lordship, and needs to reflect His character.

What’s your moral code for your work? What attitude to your assignments has been showing in you? In what ways have you seen Christ honoured in what you do? Pray for God to realign your heart in any way He needs to for your roles.
