Ephesians 6:1-4

Reflect

Paul writes here that we are to obey our parents in the Lord. When I read these verses I automatically assume that it is directed towards young children who are dependent on their parents. When we are young, we learn so much from our parents even just in terms of the day-to-day living kinds of things. But beyond that, if our parents are walking in the ways of the Lord, there are even more significant things we can learn from them.

I’d encourage you today to look at the example of faith that your parents are living (or have lived) for you, and see what you can learn. What can we learn from their journey of faith about the truth of who God is and who He made us to be? And for those of you who are parents, take a look at the way that you’re living out your faith. Are you living your faith in a way that your kids would want to replicate and live for themselves? What are they catching about faith from your example?
