Ephesians 6:10-17

Reflect

A few years ago I was asked to speak at a school assembly about the meaning of Easter. I prepared a brief, visual explanation of the Exodus, illustrating the freedom from captivity made possible by the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. I was comparing this to the breaking of bondage and the new life possible through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. Just before being called up to the stage, I began to feel as if a heavy warm scarf was being wrapped tightly around my neck and mouth, making it hard to breathe and impossible to speak. Beginning to panic, I realize it was “spiritual forces of evil” that were attacking me and wanting to impede the word of God from being presented. Praying the cross of Christ between me and darkness and claiming His blood as power to break whatever was upon me, I felt release and was able to freely bring the truth to hundreds that day. This experience marked a huge lesson in my life: to minister being clothed in God’s armour. From then on, I bathed each opportunity with prayer and had a prayer team covering me. May we be attentive to the spiritual battles we are in, and combat effectively in prayer.
