Micah 5:1-5

Reflect

Allow yourself to become familiar with Micah and discover that this prophet proclaimed boldly about the evils that were rampant in his culture. He identified the sins of idolatry, failure in leadership, and corruption at every level. Then in today’s passage, the evidence of hope. Far in the future, Micah prophesied that there would be One who will ‘be their peace’ (v. 5). That ‘One’ is Jesus Messiah. In this culture where anxiety is worn like a badge of honour, the Jesus way is peace. If you have embraced His peace, you’ve already discovered that people don’t understand. They think something is wrong with you if you are peaceful when others are anxious. Isn’t that interesting? Our culture is so panic-oriented than when a Jesus filled person doesn’t fright, you have to explain what’s “wrong” with you. As we approach Christmas, are you pressed into a tense situation? Struggling trying to find happiness? Anxiety charging in as you are stuck in a dissatisfying situation? Pray, ‘Holy Jesus, I affirm with Scripture that You are my peace. I don`t have what it takes to handle the pressures I face. Fill me with You, and empower me to glorify You as I peacefully bless others”.
