Luke 5:17-26

Reflect

Today’s passage is one of my favourite stories in the gospels of healing. Jesus is hanging out with some religious leaders and a large crowd of people. This crowd is so large in fact, that the place He is in is completely packed! Some men bring their friend to Jesus on a stretcher to be healed, but they can’t get their friend to Jesus. So they break through the roof and lower him down to Jesus! After seeing the faith of these men, Jesus not only heals the man, but He also forgives the man’s sin. This is the kind of faith that I want to have. I realize there are times when we come to Jesus and ask for healing and it does not happen, but that should not keep us from asking or keep us from expecting that He can heal. Is there someone in your life that you need to have faith for and bring them to Jesus? Is there something in your own life that you need to receive Jesus’ healing by faith? You may not have to break through a roof, but there may be an action that God is inviting you to take as an expression of your faith in His ability to heal.
