Devotional Guide for Saturday, February 17

Luke 11:33-36

Reflect

It’s a pretty vulnerable picture to imagine our lives being like a lamp on a stand, out in the open so everyone can see the light that is in us. More often the tendency is to want to fit in and conform, to be like that lamp hidden under a bowl. We’re good with having our light for ourselves, but living our lives in a way that others will see the light seems really exposed.

Yet just like this passage highlights, and just like the lamp, we weren’t designed to live our lives hidden away. We weren’t designed to hide and conform, we were designed to shine. It’s not hard to see that our world could really use some more light. We need to let our light shine.

How might God be asking you to consider how you can be a light in your circumstances? What would it look like for you to be a light in your workplace, school, team, club, family?
