Genesis 12:1-5

Reflect

Throughout my growing up years, I remember hearing the call from the house, “DINNER’S READY!”.   After hearing that call for dinner we would quickly wrap up whatever work or play we were engaged in around the farmyard and make our way into the house.  Mealtime was a time when not only did we get our fill of food (and usually laughter too), but we also had a chance to recap the events of our day and plan for what we were going to do.  A lot was accomplished through responding to the call for dinnertime.

Here in Genesis 12 God called Abram with a very simple call, “Go from where you are right now”.  Granted, this call meant leaving all the comforts and familiar faces of his life up until then, but God made sure Abram understood that there were good things coming.

God’s heart was to bless Abram when he responded in obedience to the Lord’s call.

My prayer for us through these 28 days of prayer and beyond is that we will obediently respond to the call of God, which reveals the heart of God to provide for us as individuals and as a corporate body.
