Reflect
When it comes to the second coming of our Lord, Luke writes that it will be like a flash of lightning, without any warning, without any time to prepare, without any notice. This has a couple of implications for us.
First of all, are we prepared for that day? Are we living our lives in right relationship with our Saviour? This is too urgent a matter to just leave for later. Whether or not Jesus comes back tonight or in a long time, we don’t know how many days we have here on earth. It’s worth investing the time into this now.
Secondly, what implications does this have on how we live our lives today? We don’t just sit around and wait for the second coming of Jesus, but that doesn’t mean we live our lives as if it’s not going to happen anytime soon. If we believed that the second coming could be imminent, how would that change how we viewed whatever we felt God was calling us to do? Or that conversation about faith we’ve been wanting to have with a friend but the time just didn’t seem right? We have work to do in the waiting. What might God be calling you to now?
