Acts 26:2-32

Reflect
One of my favourite instructions in the Bible comes from 1 Peter 3:15 , “Always be ready to give an answer for the hope that your profess.” This instruction is both extremely practical and challenging. Today we read an account of the apostle Paul’s ‘readiness’ in this regard. As he was standing on trial for his faith, Paul was asked to give an account of what he believed and why. His succinct answer was clear, hope-filled and contained his testimony. The only response of the crowd (other than accepting what he had to say) was to call him a madman. Paul’s answer stirred up the crowd and although in this moment we are not sure about the immediate impact this had, we know that in the centuries since, Paul’s answer has changed the world.

Application to go Deep:
What is the reason for the hope that you have? What is your understanding of the gospel?

Application to go Wide:
What would you say if you were challenged by a friend (or even someone hostile towards Christianity) about why you believe what you believe? Would you be able to articulate your testimony and the Gospel in a compelling way?
