2 Timothy 2:11-19

Reflect

Have you ever watched one of those shows where a young person was about to leave the house and the parents reminded them to not do anything that would embarrass or tarnish the family name? Were you ever reminded whose family you belonged to?

Our passage today is a reminder to do what we can, the things we can control, to demonstrate we are a part of the family of God. We are to avoid wrangling over words, to present ourselves as someone approved by God, a worker who is not ashamed of their work. Our language should not be filled with profane chatter. All the things we can control and will demonstrate that we are part of a different way of living.

Why would we want to work toward this goal? Is being different from the world worth it? Does it really matter whose family I belong to? As you ponder these questions, look to verses 11-13 and verse 19 for your answer.

Pray for Kristi TenClay – NAB (Cameroon)

In many ways, life for me goes on like normal: preparing and presenting classes; enforcing, communicating, and/or adjusting policies; supporting other members of the community; scheduled Zoom calls; and praying for God to provide staff members for next year, while simultaneously working toward possible plans for the school. However, change is a constant part of life. It has become increasingly clear that my time here is coming to an end. Thus, I want to share with you that I will be finishing my time here in Cameroon and at Rain Forest International School at the end of June 2024. I have no idea YET where God is leading for the next chapter of my journey. Your prayers are much appreciated as I pray, explore, and seek the counsel of others in the process of discerning my next steps.
