What stirs in you as you read Paul’s words that we are the "church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth"? Our role as a church is to hold on to, live out and share the Truth!! Jesus is the Truth! The Word of God is Truth.
Verse 16 describes the Good News of the Gospel. We believe that Jesus (Creator-Eternal) came to earth in the flesh, took on Himself our sin and then paid the penalty for it by His death. His sacrifice was accepted by God and His resurrection proved He was righteous (“right” in the eyes of God based on God’s standard) Because there was no sin in Him, sin was defeated by His death. Hallelujah!
Angels saw Him. He was proclaimed among the nations. Many believed in Him. Then He was taken up to heaven where He is seated in the greatest place of honour! (Phil. 2:1-11)
That’s what we hold up as Truth!
Holy Spirit warns that deceitful spirits and the doctrines they teach through humans will be believed by some and they will fall away. Paul is addressing the same “false doctrines” that Jesus addressed in Matthew 23:25-29, “...you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence...First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean."
Take a moment before you move into your day and ask Holy Spirit, "What is inside my heart that needs to be cleaned?" God promises forgiveness and cleansing! What would we do without Jesus? Go from here with thankful hearts.
