Isaiah 55:1-7

Reflect

In North America, it’s easy to see this drive, or even obsession with being satisfied. Everybody is looking for it and in a million different ways. We so easily gravitate towards whatever vice is the flavour of the day. If only I had more money, more power, more influence, or more relationships, etc., then I will be satisfied. And it’s not even just about being satisfied; we want to be stuffed. How many times have I gone to a favourite restaurant and eaten so much that it hurts? We’re not even satisfied with being satisfied anymore. And how is that working for us, and our society? I’d argue it’s not going great.
What does Scripture have to say? In this passage in Isaiah, there is an invitation to drink and feast; an invitation that is repeated by Jesus. We are invited to the table and this is where our soul will delight, because God has made a way for us to be reconciled, redeemed, restored, and satisfied.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters.” (v1).
