John 13
February 1, 2026
Speaker: Pastor Dan
Next week: Pastor Nathanael
Today, we continue in our series, through the Gospel of John, “His Sheep Hear His Voice”. We will discover how, Jesus not only provided an example of love, but He also provided the way for us to love others with His love.
- Love Put On Display (John 13:1-20)
- The basin and the towel provide the example of the love of Jesus
- Love Betrayed (John 13:1-20)
- Betrayal always hurts, but it hurts most when it comes from the inside.
- Jesus does not pull His love back.
- Real love always carries the possibility of betrayal.
- Love One Another

How can we prevent this?

Discussion Questions
- When you think about Jesus washing His disciples’ feet, what feelings rise in you—comfort, awe, humility, maybe even discomfort? How does His example speak into your own way of loving others?
- Has someone close to you ever let you down in a way that hurt deeply? How did that experience shape how you feel toward them or toward relationships in general?
- Looking at the cycle of perception → emotion → rumination → unforgiveness, which part do you struggle with most when someone hurts you? Where do you feel you need God’s grace to step in?
- What could it look like for you this week to extend grace, listen fully, forgive, reconcile, or rebuild trust? What help—spiritual, emotional, or practical—do you need from God or others to live out this love you cannot perform?
