McKernan Rocky Mountain Adventure
Kinglet Lake
July 24 - 26, 2026
Get ready for a weekend immersed in the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains! McKernan Baptist Church invites you to join us for a hiking trip designed for outdoor enthusiasts eager for both challenge and camaraderie. Over three days, we’ll explore stunning alpine landscapes, pristine lakes, and panoramic mountain views that promise memories to last a lifetime.
Trip Overview
FRIDAY, July 24
Meet at Goldeye Lake Provincial Recreation Area for an overnight stay.
SATURDAY, July 25
Hike to Kinglet Lake, where we’ll camp for the night amidst serene wilderness.
SUNDAY, July 26
Return hike, with the adventurous option to scramble Tuff Puff Ridge for a rewarding summit experience.
WHO CAN JOIN
We’re opening this adventure to 20 participants maximum. Hikers should be at least 16 years old and reasonably fit, as while the route is accessible, it will present challenges that test endurance, focus, and teamwork. This is a 14km route with 1000m of elevation gain.
GEAR and COST
Participants are responsible for their own gear and food, and we will work together to carpool to/from site. If you’re short a bit of gear, some spares might be available from the Edmundson’s. Bring your fishing rod (and a license), as there are fish at Golden Eye and Kinglet. While there’s no fee from McKernan Baptist Church, all hikers require an Alberta Public Lands Pass ($30). There will also be a small fee for the night at Golden Eye RA of $15/person.
SIGNUP and WAIVER
All participants must register and sign a waiver.
GENERAL INFO
Registration will close on July 1st, or when 20 people sign up.
There will be two pre-hike meetings to answer questions and get organized.
For questions or more information, contact Dwayne or Pastor Dan.
Pack your water bottle, bring your sense of adventure, and join us for a Rocky Mountain experience you won’t forget!
