Psalm 53

Reflect

Taking a read through this psalm can feel a little heavy. It paints a picture of the condition of humanity apart from God, a path that can lead to corruption and evil. Without the grace of God, we would all be living life on this path. Because of the mercy and grace of our Father and the sacrifice of Jesus, we have been saved. We have been given a new heart and our feet have been set on a new path. There is nothing we can do to earn this gift or add to it. A life lived for God starts with what HE did for us. It’s something we could not do for ourselves.

Apply

Take some time today to think about what Christ has done for you. Bring your worship and praise to Him today as you contemplate the greatness of His mercy and love. What does it look like to live for God, not as a way to earn His love and your salvation, but as an act of love and obedience to Him?
