Psalm 104

Reflect

In the middle of June, I was able to get out of the city and visit, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful places on earth.  I navigated the Icefields Parkway through Jasper National Park.  As I rode, the peaks towering above me caused me to consider the duration that these mountains have stood and how brief my journey among them is. The majesty and beauty of these vistas reminded me of how God created this beauty for us to enjoy, and to bring us to praise Him.  Through this Psalm the author allows us to observe the creation of God and its beauty and splendor.  And yet we are reminded that all of creation, the largest mountain to the smallest particle of our created world, pales and even trembles before God.  This world, as beautiful as some of it may be, cannot compare to the majesty of our God.

Apply

When you encounter the beauty and majesty of God in the created world, will you like the Psalmist be drawn into worship of the one who created it all?  May our souls praise God as we catch glimpses of him in his creation.
