Psalm 118

Reflect

As some of you reading this may be aware, when I was in high school, I was involved in a significant accident; I fell off of a 70 foot cliff. The aftermath of the accident included a lot of broken bones, some internal organ damage, and some significant mental health challenges in the years that followed. The contrast to and miracle during this was that God was at work in miraculous ways, healing me physically, guiding my family, and giving us hope. One of the ways that hope was given to us by the Lord in this season come from this passage. The day after my accident someone was praying for me and felt led to open the Bible to Psalm 118:17 - the verse that says "I will not die, but I will live, and proclaim the works of the Lord." He spoke this verse out over me and since then that verse has marked my life as both a promise and a calling. The rest of this passage speaks boldly of the saving nature of God, the reality that even in the most difficult of circumstances, God is deliverer! Today I want you to think in a different direction: what verse or passage is a marker in your life? How has God spoken to you through His word in a significant way that has stuck with you? It doesn't have to be something as dramatic as my story, but I know that it can still be very meaningful. If you have an opportunity, I'd encourage you sharing with a few others as a way of encouraging them as well today!
