Psalm 119:1-16, 105-112

Reflect

Although we are taking a look at only a portion of this chapter, it is made up of 176 verses!  Throughout these verses the writer demonstrates his love and devotion to the Word of God.  In verse 16 he says he DELIGHTS in God’s decrees.  The Word of God is more than just words to him, they are the words of life.

I am so challenged by the way the Psalmist views God’s word!  It is not an afterthought or a box to check on a daily to do list.  It is central to his life and understanding of God.  He trusts God’s Word because He trusts God.  He knows that God’s intention toward Him is good.  He knows that following God’s ways lead to life, and obedience to them keeps us walking in freedom and away from sin.

Take a moment to think about how you view and approach God’s Word.

How does this impact how you read it?

What other paths to life are you tempted to follow?

What steps can you take to put the Bible at the center of your life?  To read, follow, and obey?
