Proverbs 30:1-16

Reflect
I really like the “prayer” found in verses 7-9, but I am not sure I have the courage each day to pray it. “Keep falsehood and lies far from me..” This part of the prayer is yes, yes, yes and AMEN. I don’t have a problem praying it.

“…give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.” This is the part where in my mind I say, “yes Lord”. But then in my heart I start to think about it and my selfish nature pops up and I begin to wonder if God will really provide “enough”.

Verse 9 helps me resolve the conflict in my mind with sound reason. “Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you…or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.”

Apply
May we have the courage to pray this each day.

Pray for Lyndell Campbell - Brazil
Lyndell has been a North American Baptist missionary in Porto Alegre, Brazil, since 2003. She has been involved with theological education at the Rio Grande do Sul Baptist Theological Seminary. She is the Coordinator of the Pastoral Formation program and one of two full-time professors. One of Lyndell’s greatest passion is mentoring young women God is calling into vocational ministry. Lyndell is also a faculty mentor through the Seminary´s partnership with Sioux Falls Seminary, which offers the Kairos Project in Portuguese to Brazilian pastors, missionaries, and lay leaders. Besides her work at the Seminary, she does leadership training in state Baptist churches. Currently, Lyndell is the NAB field director for Brazil The evangelical church in Brazil has grown tremendously; however, the state where she serves is still very unreached for the Gospel. More workers are needed for the harvest and providing quality ministerial training for those workers is essential.
