Devotional Guide for Saturday, October 16

Romans 15:14-22

Reflect

What stands out to me from this passage is how Paul talks about his ministry to the Gentiles. In verse 19 he says that all Christ has accomplished through him has been “by the power of the Spirit of God.” This is such a good reminder for us. I know that I often get focused on my best efforts, or what I am doing for God. But it is all about God. He takes what we have to give, and He uses it--but it is by HIS power that anything is accomplished.
I often wish I could do more for God and make a bigger impact on the world. And when I feel that way, my focus shifts to DOING more. My focus shifts to me. But if Paul acknowledged all that Christ accomplished through him was by the power of the Spirit, it is true for us, too. We can shift our focus to prayer and ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to work through us.
