Acts 13:1-5
Reflect
I appreciate the reminder in today’s passage of this group of believers that specifically set apart time to be able to fast and worship to discern what the Holy Spirit was saying to them, as they were still in the beginning stages of the Church launching out. I’m making some assumptions here, but it sounds like there was some good energy in the Church, things were picking up, they were seeing people come to Christ, and it was an exciting time. It can be easy in times like that to get ahead of ourselves and rush into the next good idea. But the five of them took the time to intentionally worship and fast and discern where the Holy Spirit was leading next. And not only that, but then when they did hear, they followed! They blessed Saul and Barnabas and sent them off.
So, this is a good reminder to myself, and I hope it’s an encouragement to you, to take some time today to intentionally ask, “Holy Spirit, where are you leading me today?” or, “Holy Spirit, in the things that I’m doing today, do you have anything to say to me before I jump into it?”
