Revelation 3:1-6
Today, Pastor Lyle will continue a series of sermons on the letters recorded in Revelation 2 and 3 that were written by Jesus to seven different first-century churches. This morning we’ll explore the fifth letter, which was addressed to the church in the ancient city of Sardis. This letter has no words of commendation, but contains significant warning to a church that outwardly had a good reputation. Yet, Christ saw beneath all their religious activity and revealed that they were spiritually dead. His invitation to them (as it remains to us today) was to once again allow His Spirit to breathe His life on what remained and restore the centrality of Christ as their reason for being.
