Devotional Guide for Thursday, November 2

Philippians 1:18-30

Reflect

Have you met someone who is completely sold out for Jesus? Someone for whom you don’t have to guess what they believe about following Jesus or doing what Jesus says?

Paul is a person like that, and in today’s passage we read how he encourages the Philippians to live all out for Christ. Paul is facing some significant challenges. It is believed he doesn’t know how his upcoming trial will turn out, yet amid all of this, he wants the gospel to be the primary focus of his life.

Paul wrestles with what would be better: to live and continue to walk with Christ and share the gospel with others, or to die and be united with Christ in a completely different way.

No matter where you find yourself today, I pray you can truly live out verse 21: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” May the world experience a sold-out follower of Jesus when they encounter you.
