John 14:6-11; 15:1-5
This morning Pastor Lyle continues our series of sermons around the theme, “Dwelling in Christ,”in which we are focusing on a number of the questions that Jesus asked His followers. Given that these questions come as invitations to enter more deeply into relationship with Jesus, it is appropriate that early on we consider the question He posed in John 14:8 to Philip (and by extension, all His disciples, including us today), “Don’t you know Me…even after I have been among you such a long time?” Jesus offered a lot of knowledge in His teaching, but this question truly challenges what we do with this knowledge. Will we keep Jesus and His truth safely at arms-length, or will we integrate the reality of Jesus more deeply into our lives so that we increasingly dwell (make our home) in the life of Christ?
Apply
- How might we be content to keep Jesus and His truth at arms-length?
- In what ways are you pursuing the invitation of Jesus to know Him more fully and deeply?
