2 Chronicles 20:1-30

Reflect

The Old Testament has many incidences where the Lord reveals Himself in a manner that leaves no doubt of His presence.

Perhaps as you read today’s passage the events might seem so distant from your own reality. It’s likely you are not fighting over a piece of Holy land at your life’s peril.

Though the players in today’s story beheld the strength of God upon their enemies, they would have longed for what we take for granted.

Check v.14: “the Spirit of the LORD came upon…”. Some time after Jesus told His disciples to “love your enemies”, He left so that the Spirit would come upon all disciples. Those that receive Jesus’ grace are given the Spirit, and He never leaves.

We need that truth more than we might realize. The reality is, there is a Holy Land that is under attack. That land is your soul and the evil one is constantly attempting to gain battleground.

Destroying Satan is exactly why Jesus came to earth (1 John 3:8). On our own, we don’t have what it takes to go against the devil.

So as temples of the Holy Spirit, we put on the full armour (Eph.6:11), we are constantly aware of the devil’s presence (1 Peter 5:8), we resist the devil (James 4:7), and we give the enemy no opportunity (Eph.4:7).

What is an indication that you are praising God that the Spirit’s filling you is giving you strength to win the battle?
