Acts 5:25-42
Reflect
In the passage from yesterday, the apostles are put into jail for teaching about Jesus, freed by an angel of the Lord, and are instructed by this angel to continue to “tell the people the full message of this new life” (v20).
Today the story picks up with these same apostles being brought before the Sanhedrin to be questioned as to why they continued to preach about Jesus. In verse 29 Peter responds by saying, “we must obey God rather than men.” Peter goes on to explain that they are witnesses of what God has done through Jesus.
I am really challenged by what happens in this chapter. It was costly for the apostles to be obedient to God. It was costly for their freedom and even for the lives. Yet they were so bold. They knew that they were called to be obedient to God regardless of what other people thought or said, regardless of what it might cost them.

What does it look like for us to be bold in our faith in the places God has placed us? In our schools, our places of work, our homes, and with our friends?
