Worship Night

We’re kicking off the weekend by gathering to worship together. Join us for a meaningful time of praise and prayer as we centre ourselves on what truly unites us, and commit the weekend and the fall ministry season to the Lord.

BBQ & Petting Zoo
* 5-8pm, McKernan Park 

September is upon us and we are excited to start it off here at the church on September 6 with a BBQ and a fun time with some two and four legged critters from Thistle Hill Farm Petting Zoo.

Movie (Dusk)

You are all invited to a Family friendly movie in the parking lot, starting at dusk. Some snacks will be provided. Please bring chairs, blankets, other snacks, etc.  Rain plan will be in the church. 

No registration is required.

Run, Walk, Ride (8:30am)

This year’s event will be a wonderful way to meet other people while sharing the pleasure of being active. All options offered will be a lot of fun as the courses have been carefully chosen with the participant in mind. All are welcome!

All rides will depart from and return to the McKernan Baptist Church parking lot.  We estimate that the events should be under 90 minutes.

Arrive: 8:15am
Depart: 8:30am

For the safety of all participants, we ask you to stay on the assigned course.

1. Walk – Join us for a 5.5 km walk with mixed trails (sidewalk and park trails) and some hills. Wear a good pair of walking shoes.
2. Stroller/Wheelchair Family-Friendly Walk (1-2km). We depart at 8:30 with the other rides/walks.
3. 5km run
4. 10km run
5. Family Ride – This ~6km ride allows an opportunity for bikers of all ages to be part of the action. There route will have minimal hills and always on paved pathway/neighbourhood roads.
6. Bike Ride – This 30km ride has the mountain bike/cycle cross/hybrid bike in mind. Primarily on pavement, there will be a few hills and a faster pace. Average speed ~20km/hr.
7. Mountain Bike Ride – Yup, lotsa hills and gnarly paths. Come expecting adventure and being a long way from pavement.
8. Cycle Ride – This 40km km ride has been prepared with the road bike in mind. The pace will be swifter and will include some steeper grades. Average speed ~ 27km/hr.

Register for Run, Walk, Ride

Saturday Morning Brunch (9:30am)

We invite you all to come to our delicious pancake breakfast.  If you have just finished our run walk or ride, or if you want to get to spend some time with friends from our church and community.  Please bring a healthy appetite. 

No registration is required.

Sunday Setup on Saturday (11:30am)

We are looking for some people that can help us prepare for Sunday by being willing to move some tables and chairs around the church in preparation for our Sunday services and the delicious meal served following.  Depending on the number of volunteers this will take between 30 and 60 minutes.

Young Adults (Noon)

If you're a student, a working young adult, or just taking a break for the year, we'd love to have you join us for our young adults kickoff from 12-2pm!  There will be wide games, ice cream from Annie Rue, and some sharings from our McKernan church family and partnerships with on-campus ministries.  See you there! 

No registration is required.

This Sunday we look forward to launching our ministry year together with an exciting worship service.  Join us for our service, Sunday school for the kids, and a delicious meal to follow each service.
