Acts 22:22-30

Reflect

I am very grateful to be a citizen of Canada and have thanked God for creating me to be born in this country.

Paul was born a Roman citizen. The commander who was about to flog Paul had to pay a costly price for his Roman citizenship.

Philippians 3:20 (ESV) says, “But our citizenship (believers of Christ) is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, we have heavenly citizenship. Our ultimate destiny isn’t in this world but with the Lord in heaven, where our true citizenship lies. Jesus taught that His kingdom is not of this world and that He is not of this world. Instead of temporary things on earth, believers should fix our hearts and minds on Christ, His return and what pleases God. Integrity should be the outworking of our lives, whether seen by many or in the privacy of our own home.

Our eternal home is a gift from God, but it is only through faith in the spilled blood of Jesus that we have a full assurance of our heavenly inheritance.
