Acts 27:27-42
Reflect
As you think back on the last challenge you faced, how well did you handle it? Were you calm and collected, frazzled, or somewhere in between?
Paul is on a ship that left too late and is now facing weather that could have been avoided if they would have left on time. But they didn’t, and now here they are, in the midst of a storm.
As we read this passage, it is easy to see Paul as a person that spoke hope into the situation. He listened to God and trusted God to deliver them safely to shore, even though most on that ship thought he was crazy to think they would all survive.
Today’s passage reminds me that even though God can and does perform miracles to deliver us from tough situations, He also gives us the courage to endure situations we find difficult, and hopefully to be a beacon of hope, just like Paul, to the people around us.

Pray for Daniela Pilz – Athletes in Action
Daniela is from Germany and serves with Athletes in Action (AIA) here in Edmonton at the University of Alberta and University of MacEwan. Her major role is preparing and leading Bible studies, Chapels and building relationships with the female athletes and their coaches. She has a heart for mentoring individual female athletes to help them become followers and disciples of Christ.
The combination of faith and sport is very powerful and incredibly unique and Daniela desires to build the kingdom of God among these athletes, so they ultimately become healthier athletes, maturing believers and light for the people around them and later on in their lives.
Life doesn’t stop when we step off the field/court - it just begins.
Thank you so much for your partnership in the greater mission, McKernan!
