Acts 28:17-31

Reflect

The final scene of a movie is crucial. Sometimes it wraps everything up in a happily ever after scenario. Other times the final scene is open, leaving you to guess how it concludes. Or it ends with sadness, and it leaves you empathizing with the character’s plight.

The passage today is the final scene of Acts. What scene did the author choose to leave his readers with? We find our answer in the last two verses of Acts. “For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ--with all boldness and without hindrance!” (vs30-31).

I love that Acts doesn’t end by telling us what happened to Paul. It ends with Paul boldly proclaiming the good news. And it continues with the church, with us, doing the same.
