Colossians 1:15-2:5

Reflect

Growing up in a village in Germany, my parents butchered their own chickens. We kids had huge fun watching when sometimes a chicken was beheaded and it would escape and run around headless.

In today’s passage, Paul emphasizes how our LORD Jesus Christ is the head of the body, the church. Jesus came, the image of the invisible God–that we can know and understand the God in whom we believe!

Fully God, also fully human! And yet another mystery: Christ in us, the hope of glory! He was the firstborn from the dead, came to reconcile all things to Himself–that we can be holy, blameless and beyond reproach.

If “indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel...” (v23)

Apply

To be eligible for this wonderful promise, we have to know Jesus, the Word. Jesus Himself tells us what to do, to not be like the beheaded chicken, running around headless.
John15:5 says, “he who abides in Me and I in him”
