Devotional Guide for Saturday, December 3

Galatians 4:4-11

Reflect
As we head into the month of December it never seems to fail that my calendar becomes fuller than normal! Maybe you can relate? The Christmas season is a busy one! As we head into some busy days ahead, let’s take a minute to sit with some pretty amazing truth.

What stands out to me from this passage is that because of Jesus we were redeemed from under the law. If we believe in Christ, we become adopted children of God, no longer slaves to sin but given the Spirit to lead us. Our position as children of God is based on God’s grace. It has nothing to do with anything we can do for ourselves. We can’t work for it and there is nothing we can do to try to earn it. As children we can experience freedom and intimacy with God.

As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we can lean into the hope we have in Christ--the hope that we can’t create for ourselves, but we can believe in Jesus for.

How have you experienced intimacy with God?
